Florida Heat is ALL IN with Meaghan Houk for the 2026 PSL Season
Viera, FL — The Florida Heat have officially signed standout infielder Meaghan Houk to a one-year contract for the upcoming 2026 Professional Softball League (PSL) season, adding another dynamic playmaker to the Heat roster.
Houk brings a versatile skill set and a competitive edge to the Florida lineup. Most recently serving as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Utica College (NY), she also brings professional playing experience from her time with the New York Rise and a strong collegiate career at Bryant University. Her leadership on and off the field is expected to make an immediate impact for the Heat as they chase success in the PSL’s first season.
“We could not be more excited to welcome Meaghan Houk to the Florida Heat family,” said Ricky Bumgardner Jr., Owner of the Florida Heat. “Her passion for the game, her experience at the professional level, and her work ethic in both coaching and competing make her a perfect fit for our program. I’ve seen firsthand how she competes, leads, and elevates everyone around her — and I know our fans in Florida are going to love watching her in a Heat uniform.”
Houk’s journey through the sport has been one marked by consistent growth and achievement. At Bryant University, she carved out a reputation as a relentless competitor and multifaceted player — traits that followed her into the professional ranks with the New York Rise. Her time as a graduate assistant at Utica College has only deepened her knowledge of the game and her ability to mentor teammates, making her presence in the clubhouse as valuable as her contributions on the field.
“Im ready to get going,” Houk said. When talking to Owner Ricky Bumgardner he said “This league is doing amazing things for softball, and I know Meaghan is ready to bring everything she has to help the Heat compete at the highest level. Florida has an incredible fan base, and I can’t wait see Meaghan!”
The signing of Houk is part of the Heat’s broader strategy to blend seasoned professionals with rising talent, building a roster that can compete week in and week out across the PSL’s competitive schedule. With her combination of athletic ability, softball IQ, and leadership experience, she’s expected to be a key contributor in the upcoming season.
The Florida Heat’s 2026 campaign promises to be one of the most exciting yet — and Meaghan Houk’s addition adds even more firepower to a team ready to make its mark.
