The Professional Softball League (PSL) continues to gain momentum as the KC Diamonds officially launch as the newest professional women’s softball team, bringing elite fastpitch competition to Kansas City. As the league prepares for its inaugural season, the addition of the KC Diamonds marks a major step forward in expanding professional opportunities for women athletes and growing the game nationwide.

Kansas City has long been recognized as a passionate sports town, and the Diamonds are poised to build on that tradition by showcasing top-level talent, competitive play, and a commitment to inspiring the next generation of softball players. With national exposure and a growing fan base, the team’s arrival signals an exciting new chapter for the sport in the Midwest.

The PSL was created to elevate professional softball by uniting teams across the country under one league with a shared mission: to provide sustainable careers for athletes while increasing visibility for women’s sports. With teams spanning multiple regions, the league promises high-energy matchups, new rivalries, and meaningful growth for the game.

One of those rivalries will come from the Florida Heat, another founding PSL franchise. Florida Heat owner Ricky Bumgardner Jr. shared his excitement about competing against the KC Diamonds and bringing professional softball to new markets.

“We’re extremely excited to head to Kansas City and compete against the KC Diamonds. This league is about growth, opportunity, and giving these athletes the platform they deserve. Kansas City is a great sports city, and we can’t wait to bring the Heat and compete at the highest level in the PSL.”

The future of the PSL is bright — and in Kansas City, the Diamonds are ready to shine.
